So, in the past couple of days this image: sta.sh/01cid5kl7n01 has been stolen on almost every social media platform known to man (exaggeration). I have found it on twitter, tumblr, facebook, weheartit, pinterest, FA, and a few other places...in some places it has over 50K likes/views.
Now, I am not here to bitch and moan about copyright laws. It is illegal to steal artwork without proper credits; however, I do put myself at risk by not watermarking everything.
My main motivation for writing this is to ask for some help, and to clarify some things.
I am only on the following platforms: dA (obviously), facebook, tumblr (though I never use that), and youtube. I only post regularly to dA and facebook. If you see my artwork ANYWHERE else, that is not me posting, and it is more than likely an illegal posting. The exception is if proper credits are given.
And that is really all I ask for. If someone is going to repost my work, just please give proper credits? I do my best to watermark things that are probably going to be stolen, but in the end, a watermark can be cropped off or edited out. A link back to my facebook or dA is really all I ask for
I know everyone here is sensitive to copyright laws <3 We're all artists after all! Sometimes when you see stolen work, it can be helpful to remind the 'offender' of copyright laws
Sometimes the person who is reposting work does not realize that what they are doing is wrong. I always appreciate an a note if you see my work posted anywhere illegally!
