Please be advised that when I do reopen commissions there will be new prices and different system for ordering. It is finally getting to the point where illustration and art is becoming more of a career and less of a hobby (good news for me!). Thank you all so much for the support over the years! <3
If you sent me a message asking to be added to the waitlist, and I replied saying that you had been added, then do not fret. I will still work with you on a commission Some later notes were sent after I was already closed, but depending on if I can get projects finished, I may still take some of those over the summer.
I might be opening for a limited number of commissions in May if I can get enough projects finished before then.
EDIT 2-1-2015 I can no longer keep up with the waitlist here on deviantART. I am removing it entirely to my personal computer files. If you would like to know your place on the waitlist, feel free to ask. COMMISSIONS WILL BE CLOSING INDEFINITELY SOON. I have reached a point of being overwhelmed. I have 26 current commissions and a waitlist more than 50 people long. That is a year's worth of work. If you would like to be added to the waitlist before I close, please send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject "Commission". Thank you!
EDIT 7/27/2014- HEY GUYS. After completing a HUGE chunk of commissions, I was finally able to adjust the waitlist Feel free to come check out your new slot. If you are in the "Pending" zone, then I have already sent you a note or email. If you are interested in a commission, feel free to ask to be added. If you do not see your name on the waitlist and have already asked to be added, please let me know. I will put you in the correct spot (I won't make you start from the bottom).
EDIT: Added the waitlist, and current commission list so you can see where you are
NOTE: COMMISSIONS ARE OFFICIALLY REOPEN: ALL POTENTIAL COMMISSIONERS, please read through this information in its entirety and understand my policies before contacting me. I don't want to be repeating information that is clearly outlined here. If you have questions that aren't answered here, of course you may ask Especially be mindful of my updated "Wait-List" and "Commission Queue" sections.
Tattoo Designs- $50+
*My tattoo design prices now start at $50. This is because tattoo designs require- most of the time- hours of back and forth conversations with the client, finessing, and tweaking. Even designs that the client may consider to be 'simple' require quite a bit of planning. Please do not try and negotiate a lower price.
General Pricing Guide (please note that this is just a general guide. Any design could potentially be more or less.)
-Small designs- (forearm, ankle, ect.) $50-$65
-Medium designs (Calf, Arm, chest, ect)- $65-$125
-Shoulder designs- $75-$125+
-Half back designs- $100-$200+
-Full Back designs- $150-$300+
-RibCage/Long leg pieces- $100-$250+
If you have something in mind that does not fall under these categories, of course feel free to ask.

:Star: General Tattoo FAQ:
Q: Can I use a pre-existing design for a tattoo?
A: ASK. PLEASE. If it is a commission, the answer is no. No exceptions. If it is a personal design, the answer is maybe. I usually like a paypal donation in this case. I recommend something along the lines of $10 (paypal: email@example.com). This allows me to keep creating and producing designs
Q: Can I tweak a pre-existing design for a personal tattoo?
A: I'd rather you not. Ask me and maybe we can work something out.
Q: Will others be able to use my design?
A: I do not condone other people besides the paying commissioner to use the design as a tattoo. I can not help art thieves who may try and steal the design. To prevent this, I can place large watermarks over the design for an extra $10 or not post the design online for an extra $50. The reason for these somewhat hefty fees is that I get continual business by posting my art online. When I can't put a work online, I am not promoting myself which hurts my business
I do sell prints and merchandise of completed tattoos at conventions.
I still retain the copyrights to completed designs. The tattoo design is still yours, but I hold the copyrights.
Q: How many revisions do I get when paying for a design?
A: I usually offer unlimited revisions to the initial sketch; however this comes with the understanding that, after a certain point, it is common courtesy to tip. If there gets to be a point where I feel like I am putting more time into the revisions than I am getting paid, I may need to up the price of the design to continue working.
Revisions to a finished colored piece are a bit trickier. I ask that commissioners are very specific when describing the colors that they wish to have represented. I will go back and make color corrections if I have made a major flaw on my part (i.e. the commissioner asks for a blue rose and I paint a red one) or if the color correction is relatively minor (i.e. the commissioner would like the colors desaturated).
I will not tweak sections of a tattoo's color for the sake of 'seeing how it will look'. I can do this for an additional fee. Please note that this is normally something that should be discussed with your tattooist.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for what happens after I complete your design. Where you go to get your tattoo design done, and who tattoos your design is YOUR business. Please remember that it is best to carefully research tattooists to find someone whose work you admire. Going to a rinky-dink tattoo parlor and paying $100 for a tattoo will 9/10 times produce poor results. I am not to blame for this, so please do not try and complain to me if your completed tattoo does not look like the design I gave you.
9x12 inch illustration with no background- $50+
*These illustrations are not the same as tattoo designs. There will not be the same level of back and forth conversation. If you wish for the same level of back and forth conversation, please let me know and I can get you a better price quote. Multiple characters, full body poses and style will factor into the price.
9x12 inch with background $70+
No Background- $70+
No Background- $100-175+
Bigger Sizes, Obscure sizes, Canvas and More- Note me for a special quote
*Note: DO NOT ORDER SOMETHING IF FOR ANY REASON YOU THINK YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY.
*PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE SENDING A COMMISSION INQUIRY*
Ordering a commission is simple
Just Follow these steps:
1) Read over my Commission page. Make sure to understand my policies, prices, ect.
2) Be sure that my commissions are open. This can be found with my Art Status information
3) Send me a note with what you have in mind (be as detailed as necessary), and I will get back to you as soon as I can with a price quote
Q: Why do you no longer have definitive prices?
A: I find that each commission is different, and applying a strict price to something no longer works for what I do.
Q: What's up with the huge price increase?
A: Please respect that these are the prices I need to charge to make commissions worth my time. I have a very, very heavy workload, and commissions take a tremendous amount of time and energy. I will most likely not acknowledge comments complaining about how 'expensive' my prices seem to be. I think think they are perfectly reasonable, and that is really all that matters. There are many other artists on dA taking commissions, and I am sure with the right amount of research you will be able to find someone else who better suits your price-range.
Will you draw anything?
A: No, I will not. I will consider all commission requests, but please do not be offended if I turn away a commission. I am still a student and there are some things that I do not feel confident enough to produce at an acceptable skill level. I draw people, but people take me about 100x more energy and time than other subjects. Because of this I charge A LOT more for them.
I will not draw overly sexualized subjects. Cuddling, kissing, and nuzzling are perfectly fine.
I do not mind drawing blood and gore. Please no hateful subject matter though (send me a note if you aren't sure).
I do not depict self harm (cutting, references to suicide) unless the meaning behind it is a positive message (i.e. overcoming self harm)
Always feel free to send me a note if you are unsure if the subject matter is something I will draw.
Paying For a Commission
Payment? How does that work?
I prefer to use paypal. Even if you do not have an account, you can still use a debit card/credit card with Paypal. It is fast, easy, and safe.
I do not require payment in advance unless it is a pricey order. For orders over $100, I require a partial downpayment after the initial sketch is complete so that I know you are serious about the commission and being able to pay. Once I finish the item, I will post it on deviantART Stash with a watermark and ask for the payment. Once I receive payment, I will send the commissioner a clean, unwatermarked version of the work and ship the original. Failure to pay will result in your item not being shipped, and a possible auction/resale of your item.
What is Paypal?
Paypal is a safe, fast, and user friendly site for making online payments. You do not need to sign up for an account to make a payment through paypal. It is the site that Ebay, Etsy, and many other online stores use for their checkout process.
I don't have a card...I can't use Paypal.
If you are younger, and don't have your own debit or credit card, then perhaps ask your parents before making a purchase. They might be able to help you, and make a purchase for you. Always ask your parents' permission before making an online purchase!
Do you accept payment plans?
Unless the order is unusually pricey, I do not accept payment plans. Be sure that you are capable of paying for a commission before it is ordered.
Why do you not do point Commissions?
Art is how I make the majority of my money. I can't make a real income off of points.
If an item is cancelled, it will not be finished or posted. If you have already paid a downpayment for an order over $50, you will not be issued a refund. Please, please, please do not order something that you think will need to be cancelled.
Cancelled items that have been started will most likely be tweaked into other pieces, personal projects, or used in some other way.
New Work Policy
All commissions come with revisions to the original sketch as long as the revision is within the confines of what the commissioner asked for originally. I am not, for example, going to redraw a tiger if the commissioner originally asks for a wolf. I will of course tweak the pose, design elements, ect.
Once the sketch is okayed, major revisions can NO LONGER be made. The commissioner must make sure they accurately describe how they would like the commission colored.
Minor color alterations can be made upon completion of the commission if I mis-color something such as a marking. Images WILL NOT be entirely recolored unless for some reason a major mistake is made on my part.
Once I finish the image, I will present the finished image to the commissioner with watermarks. This will allow the commissioner to review the commission and okay the final result. Watermarks will not be taken off the image until the commissioner pays for the remainder of the commission. If for some reason the commissioner refuses to pay the remainder of the commission, the commission will not be shipped and watermarks will not be removed.
As you may or may not know, in the past when opening commissions, I have not had a waitlist. I would simply take everyone who asked for a commission to a my commission queue. This process is no longer working for me. Now, I will be opening 3-7 commission slots at one time, and a waitlist. While potential commissioners are waiting on the wait-list they are not tied to any sort of commitment. Waitlisted people may back out AT ANY TIME. Please be mindful of your spot on my waitlist (I will keep it here for potential commissioners to keep an eye on). Once your name is near the top of the waitlist, be expecting a note or email. You will have a 48 hour grace period in which you can reply to my note or email before I will move onto the next person on the waitlist. If you miss my note/email you will only be bumped down 1 spot. If you miss my note/email 3 times, you will be stricken from the waitlist. Please note, organizing commissions takes a lot of effort. I cannot do all of the legwork for you. Once you respond to my email/note, you will be officially place on the commission queue. If a downpayment is required, that will also be needed to move on to the commission queue.
There will be 3+ commissioners on the commission queue at all times. I will try my little heart out to move through 3-7 people in a 1-2 week timeframe. I cannot garauntee that speed though. Sometimes I work very fast and sometimes I work very slow. Commissioners on the commission queue are the commissioners whose artwork I am physically working on.
The blacklist is a list of people (not to be made public) who are not allowed to order future commissions for severe reasons. There are very few ways to become blacklisted, as I am a pretty easy going person.
1. Refusal to pay- I have completed your commission to your liking, but you refuse to pay.
2. Rude or Obscene behavior- I don't consider pickiness or strong opinions to be considered 'rude'. Cussing (at me), name calling, abusive language... this is what I am talking about.
3. Other extreme circumstances that may become obvious to me if they arise
1. Curious Kris (50%)
2. Patrick Rilely (Raven with Mysterious Background and haunted house, working on sketch)
3. Fiona Buckman (email, consulting)
4. dracos666 (wolf, otter, dragon tattoo)
